Importance Of Protein For Weight Loss

According to a recent study featured in the Journal of Nutrition (Vol. 139, No. 3, 514-521, March 2009) in a head-to-head 12-month research study, weight losers who followed a moderately protein-based diet lost more weight and maintained weight loss results longer.

The study followed 130 participants over 4 months of weight loss efforts, followed by 8 months of weight loss maintenance.

The study included two groups of participants; one group followed the USDA food pyramid nutrition standard recommending 15% protein, 55% carbohydrates and 15% fat. The other group was on a moderately high protein diet consisting of 30% protein, 40% carbohydrates and 30% fat.

The protein-based group lost 38% more body fat over the 12-month study.

Further explaining why chocolate weight loss dieters achieve better results eating more protein, especially those who start their day with the recommended minimum 9 grams of protein to kick-start their fat-burning engine.

It is recommended that a weight-conscious dieter should consume 1 gram of protein for every pound of one's healthy lean (target) weight daily.

Think back to the last time you were on a diet... Remember everyone watching what you ate? The grapefruits, pre-packaged (obviously labeled) frozen (or suspended animation) TV dinners, homemade diet soup(s), powdered drink mixes, etc… You just knew those people were pointing, talking about you behind your back, saying, "Oh, look! She's on another diet, and this time..." blah, blah, blah...
